Slow Cooker Steel Cut Oats

Ingredients:

  • 1-1/2 cup of water (can use milk instead)
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp of dried fruit (optional - i used dried banana chips)
  • dash of salt

Directions:

  1. Mix all ingredients together in a 2 cup heat safe measuring cup or bowl. Set on top of crumpled, flattened aluminum foil in the slow cooker pot. Add water until it reaches halfway up the cup or bowl See Photo. Cover, turn to low and cook for 8 to 9 hours (mine cooked for 9-1/2 hours) See Photo. In the morning, stir to combine. Can be served with additional syrup, brown sugar or whatever you like.
  2. (To make this a more suitable and smaller serving for one, use 3 Tbs of oats and 1 cup plus 2 Tbs of water.)
