Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp fat
  • 2 lbs beef chuck
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 2 cups beef stock
  • 2 tbsp vinegar
  • 1 tbsp ketchup (optional)

Directions:

  1. Brown onions slowly in fat.
  2. Cut meat into serving pieces,add to onions and brown.
  3. Mix flour & dry seasonings,sprinkle over meat.
  4. Add stock,vinegar and fresh herbs.
  5. Cover tightly and simmer about 2 hours.
  6. You may use thyme or parsely to season;and a tablespoon of tomato catchup,if you have any.
