Enchilada Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 2 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/4 cup salsa
  • 1 (6 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups water

Directions:

  1. Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the garlic and saute for 1 to 2 minutes.
  3. Add onion, oregano, chili powder, basil, ground black pepper, salt, cumin, parsley, salsa and tomato sauce.
  4. Mix together and then stir in the water.
  5. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes.
  6. Use in place of canned enchilada sauce.
