Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Bring water and salt to a boil, add potatoes and cook until tender.Drain and reserve 1 cup of water.
  2. Melt butter over medium heat.
  3. Saute onions until tender.
  4. Slowly add flour and pepper and cook for about 1 minute.
  5. Gradually add potatoes, reserved water, and milk. Stir well, add cheese and ham.
  6. Simmer on low, stirring often, for 20 minutes.
  7. Garnish with more cheese, bacon bits, and chives.
