Ingredients:

  • 2 cups dates, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 and 1/3 cup flour

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Grease an 8-by-8 cake pan and set aside.
  3. Place dates, butter, and baking soda in mixing bowl.
  4. Add boiling water and stir until butter is melted.
  5. Add sugar and egg and stir until mixed.
  6. Stir in flour and nuts.
  7. Pour into the prepared pan and bake for 40 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  8. Serve warm with whipped cream.
