Two-Toned Pound Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 cups butter
  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 5 large eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • confectioners' sugar (for top )

Directions:

  1. Grease and flour a Bundt or tube pan.
  2. Cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs one at a time, creaming well after each.
  3. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with the milk and vanilla.
  4. Remove two cups batter and blend cocoa into it.
  5. Alternately spoon light and dark batter into the prepared pan.
  6. Bake at 350°, for approximately 70 minutes or until cake test done.
  7. Cool ten minutes on rack, then turn cakes out onto a plate and cool thoroughly.
  8. Sprinkle confectioners sugar on top, if desired.
