Monkey Bread  Coffee Cake Dough

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. For mixed-up coffee cake dough:
  2. Scald milk; stir in sugar, salt and margarine or butter.
  3. Cool to lukewarm.
  4. Measure water into large, warm bowl.
  5. Sprinkle in yeast, stir until dissolved.
  6. Stir in milk mixture, egg and half of the flour.
  7. Beat until smooth.
  8. Add remaining flour to make a stiff batter.
  9. Cover loosely with foil.
  10. Refrigerate at least 2 hours.
  11. For monkey bread:
  12. Blend brown sugar and instant coffee.
  13. On lightly floured board, divide dough into 24 equal pieces.
  14. Dip each piece in melted margarine and roll in brown sugar mixture.
  15. Place 12 pieces in bottom of well-greased 10-inch tube pan.
  16. If pan has removable bottom, line with foil.
  17. Arrange second layer of 12 pieces on top of first layer.
  18. Cover.
  19. Let rise in warm, draft-free place until doubled in bulk, about 1 to
  20. 1 1/2 hours.
  21. Bake at 375 degrees for 40 minutes or until done.
  22. Remove from pan.
  23. Combine frosting ingredients and beat until smooth.
  24. Drizzle on warm coffee cake.
