Have a Coffee With Your Swiss Steak (Crock Pot)

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Trim fat from meat and cut meat into serving-size pieces.
  2. In a pan brown meat on all sides in hot oil and drain off any fat.
  3. Place the onions in the bottom of a crock pot.
  4. Add the meat on top.
  5. Combine coffee, soy sauce, garlic, bay leaves, and oregano and pour over the meat and onions.
  6. Cover and cook on low-heat setting for 8 to 10 hours or cook on high-heat setting for 4 to 5 hours.
  7. Remove meat and onions to platter and keep warm.
  8. Measure 2 cups cooking juices and pour into a small saucepan.
  9. Discard bay leaves.
  10. Combine cold water and cornstarch and stir into saucepan with juices.
  11. Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened and bubbly.
  12. Cook and stir for 2 minutes more.
  13. Serve sauce with steak.
  14. This goes well with mashed or baked potatoes and steamed green vegetables.
