German Honey Bread (Baked in a Loaf Pan)

Ingredients:

  • 250 g honey
  • 200 g sugar
  • 1/4 liter milk
  • 500 g flour
  • 1 1/2 tbsp baking powder
  • 3 tbsp baking cocoa
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • 1 tsp cardamom
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Grease a bread pan.
  3. Stir together all dry ingredients.
  4. Slowly heat up honey and sugar on a low flame.
  5. Then add milk while stirring honey mixture.
  6. Heat up but do not boil.
  7. Now add the warm liquid honey/milk mixture to the dry ingredients and stir well.
  8. Put it all into the greased bread pan.
  9. Bake at 350 F for approximately 40 minutes.
  10. Turn off the oven and leave cake in for another 5 - 10 minutes.
  11. Honey Cake needs to be stored in a cool and moist place, The best place would be a moist stone pot in which you put a slice of bread, to keep it moist.
