Old Time Popcorn Balls

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup corn syrup
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla

Directions:

  1. Place popped corn into a large bowl.
  2. Butter sides of a sauce pan.
  3. In the saucepan, combine the sugar, water, salt, corn syrup and vinegar. Cook until the temperature reaches 250 degrees on a candy thermometer.
  4. Stir in vanilla.
  5. Slowly pour over popcorn and stir with a wooden spoon.
  6. Grease hands lightly with shortening and form into balls.
  7. Yield depends on popcorn ball size.
