These are the popcorn balls my grandma made when I was growing up. Ingredients:
1 cup sugar |
1/4 cup corn syrup |
3/4 cup water |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon vinegar |
1/2 teaspoon vanilla |
8 cups popped popcorn |
Directions:
1. Place popped corn into a large bowl. 2. Butter sides of a sauce pan. 3. In the saucepan, combine the sugar, water, salt, corn syrup and vinegar. Cook until the temperature reaches 250 degrees on a candy thermometer. 4. Stir in vanilla. 5. Slowly pour over popcorn and stir with a wooden spoon. 6. Grease hands lightly with shortening and form into balls. 7. Yield depends on popcorn ball size. |
