Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup beer
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 4 tsp olive oil
  • 2 cups bread flour
  • 3/4 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. For the starter: In a medium mixing bowl combine the beer and brown sugar.
  2. Sprinkle the first teaspoon yeast over beer mixture; stir to dissolve.
  3. Stir in the first bread flour.
  4. Mix well.
  5. Cover with plastic wrap; let stand at room temperature (75-85 deg) for 12 to 24 hours.
  6. (Placed in oven with light on-electric, or pilot light-gas, also works well for this.) To finish the bread: Add the starter and the remaining ingredients to the machine according to the manufacturer's directions.
  7. Select the basic white bread cycle.
