Mother's Banana Nut Bread

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 medium egg
  • 2 tbsp buttermilk
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups bananas, mashed

Directions:

  1. Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt together.
  2. Cream shortening, add sugar, and beaten egg.
  3. Mix well.
  4. Mash bananas really well.
  5. Add the buttermilk.
  6. Add chopped pecans to the sifted dry ingredients and fold into creamed mixture gradually , alternating with milk and bananas.
  7. Pour into pan lined with waxed paper, and bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) for 1 hour.
