  1. Dumplings:
  2. In a large pot, cover chicken with water, add salt and pepper. Bring to a boil and let simmer for about 40 minutes until cooked through. Let cool and remove chicken from bones.
  3. To make the Dumplings:
  4. Once the chicken is cooked, in a mixing bowl, add flour, salt, and baking powder and mix well. Add milk and egg and combine well with a fork. Drop into boiling chicken broth and simmer, covered, for 10 to 15 minutes. Add a butter/flour roux to thicken the broth. Add salt and pepper, to taste. Serve chicken n dumplings covered with gravy.
