Danish Strawberry Trifli

Ingredients:

  • 8 large macaroons
  • 4 tbsp madeira wine (or about)
  • 2 tbsp sugar (or to taste)
  • 2 tbsp sugar

Directions:

  1. Crush the macaroons and place in a glass bowl.
  2. Sprinkle the Madeira (rum or orange liquer) over the macaroons.
  3. Set aside 2-3 whole strawberries for decoration.
  4. Mash the thawed strawberries lightly with a fork and divide over the macaroons.
  5. Taste with a bit of sugar if desired.
  6. Beat egg yolks and sugar until light and fluffy.
  7. Whip the whipping cream.
  8. Combine carefully the egg mass and whipped cream.
  9. Divide over the dessert and decorate with the whole strawberries.
