Ingredients:

  1. Heat the oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until just simmering.
  2. Add the almonds, salt, pepper, and Chinese five-spice powder.
  3. Toast the almonds over medium-low heat, stirring often, until fragrant and the color deepens slightly, about 8 minutes.
  4. Transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels and allow them to cool before serving.
  5. The almonds can be stored in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
