Southern Vegetable Soup

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 chopped onion *(i used the entire onion)
  • 2-tsp minced garlic *(i used two cloves of garlic pressed)
  • 2- tsp olive oil
  • 1 26- oz box swanson chicken broth
  • 1 (16-oz)package frozen mixed vegetables
  • 1 (4-oz)can chopped chilies
  • 2- tsp dried savory
  • 1- tsp sugar
  • 1/2- tsp salt
  • a few grinds of black pepper

Directions:

  1. In a Dutch oven, saute onion and garlic in oil until tender.
  2. Stir in the remaining ingredients and bring to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 20-30 minutes or until vegetables are tender.
