Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Cut 1/2 cup butter into flour with a pastry blender until crumbly.
  2. Add buttermilk, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened.
  3. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface.
  4. Knead 3 or 4 times.
  5. Roll dough to 3/4-inch thickness.
  6. Cut with a 2-1/2-inch round cutter, and place on a lightly greased baking sheet.
  7. Bake at 425° for 13 to 15 minutes.
  8. Brush biscuits with melted butter.
  9. Serve with heavy cream and preserves.
  10. Makes: 1 dozen
