Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a small bowl, combine flour, baking powder, 1 teaspoon nutmeg, and salt; set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter.
  4. Add 1/2 cup of the granulated sugar and blend well.
  5. Beat in the flour mixture.
  6. Grease a 9 x 9 metal pan (metal gives this a dessert a better texture).
  7. Place half of the peaches on the bottom.
  8. Sprinkle half the flour mixture over the fruit.
  9. Add the rest of the peaches.
  10. Sprinkle with the remainder of the flour mixture.
  11. In a small bowl, combine the remaining 1/2 cup granulated sugar and the brown sugar.
  12. Sprinkle the sugars over all.
  13. Add the almond extract to the boiling water.
  14. Pour over the cobbler but Do Not Mix!
  15. Sprinkle with grated nutmeg.
  16. Bake for 1 hour.
  17. Serve warm.
