French Potato Gratin

Ingredients:

  • 10 medium potatoes , about 2 lb
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 dash black pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, pressed
  • 1 1/2 cups whipping cream
  • 1/3 cup milk

Directions:

  1. Peel and slice potatoes thinly.
  2. Use a food processor if available.
  3. Lightly grease an ovenproof casserole.
  4. Layer potato slices in casserole, sprinkling each layer with salt, pepper and nutmeg.
  5. Press garlic over mixture.
  6. Add cream and milk.
  7. You may prepare ahead of time up to this step.
  8. Bake at 400 degrees F for about 40 minutes, or until potatoes are soft and creamy and golden brown on surface.
