Ingredients:

  • 3-4 tbsp hot water
  • food colouring or wonder colours
  • note: this recipe is easily doubled or tripled.

Directions:

  1. Pour water into a 1cup measuring cup.
  2. Fill the rest of the cup to the top with Ivory Flakes.
  3. With a spoon, mix the water and soap flakes together until mixture becomes a thick soapy paste without any obvious lumps.
  4. Add about 20 drops of food colouring to the soap mixture and stir well until the soap has colour.
  5. You can also add a tiny drop of essential oil such as lavender.
  6. Spoon out some of the mixture and put it in one of the spaces of an ice cube tray or any other mold you would like to use. I have some cute easy release silicone ice cube molds that I have used.
  7. Press the soap paste down into the cube until it is filled to the top.
  8. Fill 1 or 2 more cubes with the remaining soap mixture.
  9. Dry cubes in a warm, dry place for 1 or 2 days until the soap paste becomes hardened (test by pressing with your finger).
  10. Pop the soap crayons out of the tray.
  11. Some colours work better than others.
  12. Soap crayons are made from pure soap and food colouring, so whatever is drawn with them can be wiped off most surfaces.
