Ingredients:

  • 4 cup. flour
  • 1 1/3 cup. butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 cup. sour cream
  • 1 cup. sugar

Directions:

  1. Combine walnuts and sugar...set aside
  2. Sift flour and baking soda, 1 tbsp.sugar and salt together in a bowl.
  3. Cut in butter as for pie crust
  4. Add egg, egg yolks, crumbled yeast and sour cream...knead together well.
  5. Divide dough into 4 pieces.
  6. Roll 1 piece to fit a 12x14 inch pan
  7. Place in bottom of pan
  8. Spread a thin layer of preserves on dough
  9. Sprinkle on 1/3 of nut mixture
  10. Repeat layers, ending with dough for top
  11. Let rise in warm place for 1 hour
  12. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes
  13. Cool and spread top layer with chocolate icing or melted chocolate.
  14. Slice and serve.
