Lemon Glazed Date Sticks

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 8 oz package chopped dates
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar

Directions:

  1. Sift flour with baking powder and salt then set aside.
  2. Beat egg and add sugar slowly then blend in 1 tablespoon butter.
  3. Stir in dates and nuts then gradually add flour mixture and mix well.
  4. Pour into greased square pan then spread evenly and bake at 325 for 30 minutes.
  5. Cool in pan on wire rack then spread top with glaze and cut into 24 sticks.
  6. To make glaze combine milk, butter, confectioners' sugar, lemon juice and lemon rind.
  7. Heat over low heat until well blended then cool slightly before pouring over cookies.
