Greek Sesame Seed Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup water

Directions:

  1. Mix butter, sugar, and eggs til fluffy.
  2. Stir in 1/3 cup of the sesame seeds.
  3. Combine flour, baking powder and salt.
  4. Add alternately with water to sugar mixture.
  5. Chill dough til stiff, 1-2 hours.
  6. Heat oven to 350' degrees F.
  7. Roll dough out on lightly floured board into rectangle 1/8th inch thick.
  8. Cut dough in strips about 2inches x 1 inch.
  9. Press one side of strip into reserved sesame seeds.
  10. Loop one end over the other making a bow-tie effect.
  11. Place on lightly greased baking pan.
  12. Bake 8-10 minutes.
  13. Until lightly browned.
  14. Cool slightly before removing from pan, cool on wire rack.
