Grandma's Thanksgiving Sweet Potato Yams

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup margarine

Directions:

  1. Boil sweet potatoes until fork tender. Allow to cool. Peel the sweet potatoes and slice into 1 slices.
  2. In a bowl, stir together karo syrup, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla.
  3. Arrange sweet potato slices in 11 x14 casserole dish.
  4. Pour mixture over potatoes.
  5. Slice margarine into slices and arrange on the top.
  6. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Remove and mix the slices around. Put back in oven for 10-20 minute Serve hot.
