Ingredients:

  • 1 1/3 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup shortening

Directions:

  1. Sift together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Using a food processor, pulse in the shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal.
  3. Stir in the evaporated milk just until mixed.
  4. Line a baking sheet with parchment.
  5. Drop scone-size scoops (1 oz) onto the parchment. If desired, apply an egg glaze, or sprinkle tops with granulated sugar.
  6. Place tray of scones in the freezer. Preheat oven to 425°F Once preheated, transfer the scones directly to the top oven rack.
  7. Bake 10-12 minutes.
