Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • additional sugar

Directions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream butter, shortening and sugar.
  2. Add egg and vanilla; mix well.
  3. Combine flour, baking powder and baking soda; gradually add to the creamed mixture.
  4. Shape in 1-in. balls.
  5. Roll in sugar.
  6. Place on greased cookie sheet; flatten with a glass.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
  8. Yield: 5 dozen.
  9. If Cooking for Two: Freeze baked cookies in airtight containers or freezer bags to enjoy anytime!
