Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water.
  2. Let set for 5-10 minutes.
  3. Add milk, sugar, shortening, egg, salt, and 2 cups of flour.
  4. Stir in remaining flour until a soft dough forms.
  5. Turn dough on a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes.
  6. Place in a greased bowl, turning to distribute grease.
  7. Put dough in a warm place.
  8. Cover first with plastic wrap and then a towel.
  9. Let set until dough doubles 1 hour.
  10. While dough is resting cook beef mixture.
  11. Cook beef and onion until beef is browned.
  12. Drain and stir in tomato sauce.
  13. Set aside.
  14. Remove dough and punch down.
  15. Divide into 16 pieces.
  16. On a floured surface roll out dough into a five inch circles.
  17. Put 2 pieces of cheese on cirlces and top with 3 Tbl.
  18. Of beef mixture.
  19. Fold dough over to make a half circle and pinch edges together to seal.
  20. Place on a greased baking sheet.
  21. Cover and let rise in a warm place about 30 minutes.
  22. Bake at 400 °F for 8-12 minutes or until golden brown.
