Solo Brand Poppy Cake Old Version

Ingredients:

  • cream together
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • add : 1 can or jar poppy seed filling (usually solo brand it is bigger but we use baker brand as well but we like all we can get
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • sift & add to above
  • 2 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 egg whites , whipped and fold under above cake mixture.

Directions:

  1. Place in butter tube pan
  2. Bake for 1 hour 15 minutes or until tested clean. check after 1 hour it seems done.
  3. Cool. Then sprinkle on 10x sugar.
