Solo Brand Poppy Cake Old Version |

This is an old recipe by solo. They have a version on the can but it is differnt than the original they had years ago. This is a simple moist delicious cake. We eat it with only confectioners sugar sprinkled on top. Ingredients:
cream together |
1 cup shortening |
1 1/2 cup sugar |
add: 1 can or jar poppy seed filling (usually solo brand it is bigger but we use baker brand as well but we like all we can get |
cream in and add |
4 yolks, one at a time |
1 cup sour cream |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
sift & add to above |
2 1/2 cup flour |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
4 egg whites, whipped and fold under above cake mixture. |
Directions:
1. Place in butter tube pan 2. bake for 1 hour 15 minutes or until tested clean. check after 1 hour it seems done. 3. Cool. Then sprinkle on 10x sugar. |
