Praline Cookies With Brown Sugar Frosting

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 cup finely chopped pecans
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cream
  • 1-1/3 cups powdered sugar

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375.
  2. Beat butter and shortening in a large bowl with an electric mixer.
  3. Add brown sugar, baking soda, baking powder and salt and mix well.
  4. Add egg, milk and vanilla then beat until well mixed.
  5. Add in flour and 1/2 cup chopped pecans then mix well with a wooden spoon.
  6. Shape dough into 2 rolls then wrap in waxed paper and chill 4 hours.
  7. Cut dough into 1/4 slices then place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake 8 minutes.
  8. Prepare frosting by heating together butter, sugar and cream in a small saucepan.
  9. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar then beat with a whisk until smooth.
  10. Spread over cookies as desired.
