Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Chop nuts coarsely, set aside.
  2. Cut orange slices into small pieces using a wet scissors dipped in hot water.
  3. Set aside.
  4. Cream thoroughly the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar.
  5. Add the eggs and vanilla.
  6. Beat thoroughly.
  7. Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt together.
  8. Fold these ingredients by hand until reasonably mixed.
  9. Add oatmeal and Rice Krispies and mix.
  10. Do not over mix.
  11. Fold in orange slices and nuts at the same time, a few at a time.
  12. You can also cut a few extra pieces and scatter them on top by hand.
  13. Press in dough.
  14. Use thick cookie sheets greased with oil or shortening.
  15. Use a tablespoon or small ice cream scoop to shape a ball.
  16. Place 12 balls pressed down slightly in 350° for 14 minutes.
  17. These bake better if you only bake one sheet at a time.
  18. Let set one minute after they are out of oven and then slide onto cooling rack.
  19. The cookie sheet will have to be washed each time as the candy melts on sheets and would burn if left on sheet.
  20. If you can find orange jelly beans that are truly orange flavored, they may be used instead of orange slices.
