Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp clove
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ginger

Directions:

  1. In mixing bowl, cream together butter, sugar, molasses and egg. Sift together flour, baking soda, spices and stir them into creamed mixture. Place in refrigerator for 1/2 to 3/4 of an hour to cool dough.
  2. Scoop dough up by the teaspoonful, roll into little balls, and roll balls in granulated sugar.
  3. Place them on greased baking sheets 2 inches apart to accommodate spreading.
  4. Bake at 350F for 12 minutes, or until cookies are flat. Allow to cool for 5 minutes before removing from sheets.
