Granny's Sugar Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 -2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla

Directions:

  1. Divide dough in two parts.
  2. Chill 1 to 2 hours for easy handling.
  3. Roll dough, one part at a time, (keep 2nd cold till ready to roll) to 1/8-inch thickness and cut with cookie cutters.
  4. Transfer to cookie sheet.
  5. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  6. Bake for 8-10 minutes.
  7. Frost if desired.
