G. G.'s Butter Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups flour (sifted)
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • various colored sugar sprinkle

Directions:

  1. Cream butter.
  2. Gradually beat in sugar.
  3. Add egg yolks one at a time, mixing with butter/sugar mixture.
  4. Add flour gradually, mixing well.
  5. Add vanilla.
  6. Refrigerate dough until chilled.
  7. Roll out 4 piece of dough with enough flour so as dough does not stick to rolling pin or rolling surface.
  8. Cut into shapes and place on ungreased cookie sheet.
  9. Refrigerate extra dough and remove from refrigeration as used.
  10. Paint each cookie with egg whites and then decorate with colored sugar.
  11. Bake at 350° F for 10 - 12 minutes.
  12. Enjoy.
