Cracker Barrels White Gravy (Request)

Ingredients:

  • 5 slices maple bacon
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 cup diced onion
  • 4 tbsp flour
  • 2 1/2-3 1/2 cups milk (depending on how thick you like it)
  • 3/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. Brown the bacon in a large skillet, over medium-high heat, and then remove and crumble.
  2. Add the butter and onions to the pan, and cook until onions are just browning.
  3. Turn the heat to low and add the flour. Cook for about 3 minutes or until the roux smells nutty.
  4. Whisk in the milk, salt, and pepper and bring to a boil over low heat, stirring often.
  5. Add the crumbled bacon.
