Ingredients:

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 stick parkay margarine (parkey is the best)
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3 tbsp cocoa
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp soda

Directions:

  1. In a bowl add flour, salt and sugar, set aside
  2. In a sauce pan melt margarine and shortening together
  3. Add cocoa and water to margarine mixture and bring to a boil
  4. Pour over flour mixture and mix well
  5. Beat eggs and add to mixture
  6. Then add soda to the buttermilk, stir and add to mixture
  7. Bake cake in a greased and floured jelly roll pan for 20 min at 350 degrees
  8. For the icing melt one stick of parkey margarine
  9. Add 3 tablespoons of cocoa to that then add 6 tablespoons of
  10. Evaporated milk
  11. Add a 16 oz box of powdered sugar, one teaspoon of vanilla and 1/2 to one cup of nuts
  12. Spread on cake while warm.
