Bea Coles French Fried Onion Rings

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2/3 cups water
  • crisco for frying
  • may sprinkle with cayenne pepper

Directions:

  1. Slice and separate onions into rings
  2. Soak in milk for an hour
  3. Make a batter with the flour, salt, water, 2 tablespoons oil, beaten egg white
  4. Mix well
  5. Dip rings in batter and deep fry in Crisco until brown and crisp
  6. Drain on paper towel
