Bavarian Apple Torte

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add flour; mix well.
  3. Spread dough onto bottom and1 1/2 half inches high up sides of 9-inch springform pan.
  4. Combine softened cream cheese and sugar, mixing until well blended.
  5. Blend in egg and vanilla.
  6. Pour into pastry lined pan.
  7. Toss apples with combined sugar and cinnamon.
  8. Spoon apple mixture over cream cheese layer.
  9. Sprinkle with nuts.
  10. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes.
  11. Reduce oven temperature to 400 degrees; continue baking 25 minutes.
  12. Loosen cake from rim of pan.
  13. Cool; remove rim. Chill.
