Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Saute the onion in the oil and butter until lightly browned.
  2. Add tomato paste and cook until color darkens. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  3. Deglaze the pan with red wine dissolving all the brown material on the bottom of the pan.
  4. Add beef stock and thyme leaves and simmer until liquid is reduced by half.
  5. Strain broth before using.
