Balsamic Syrup over Strawberries

Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla (or to taste)

Directions:

  1. Combine vinegar and sugar in a small nonreactive saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve sugar.
  3. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, until mixture is syrupy and reduced to about 1/2 cup.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
  5. Cool completely.
  6. Serve drizzled over strawberries or melon.
  7. Cooking time does not include chilling time.
