Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 3/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup grated apple

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg and sugar.
  3. Cut in shortening.
  4. Mix in egg, milk and apples.
  5. Fill greased muffing pans or doughnut baking pan 2/3 full with batter.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
  7. While they are still warm, roll in 1/2 cup melted butter and then roll in cinnamon-sugar (1 teaspoon cinnamon and 1/3 cup sugar).
