Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1/8 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3 cups flour

Directions:

  1. Bend margarine,sugar, molasses, water, spices and salt.
  2. Stir in flour, baking soda, and cream of tartar. Mix until well blended.
  3. Roll into walnut-size balls.
  4. Dip in sugar and place on a cookie sheet.
  5. Flatten slightly with the bottom of a glass.
  6. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 12 minutes.
