Scotch Chocolate Cake

Ingredients:

  • 2 cup. sifted flour
  • 2 cup. sugar
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/2 cup. crisco oil
  • 4 heaping tbsps. cocoa
  • 1 cup. water
  • 1/2 cup. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Grease and flour cake pan.
  2. Preheat oven 400 degrees.
  3. Combine flour, sugar in mixing bowl, mix well.
  4. In sauce pan, combine butter, oil, cocoa, water, bring to boil, then pour over the flour and sugar mixing gradually.
  5. Stir soda into buttermilk and add to cake mixture along with remaining ingredients, mix well.
  6. Bake 30-40 minutes for oblong pan or about 20 minutes for two cake pans.

  8. Frosting for Scotch Chocolate Cake:
  9. 1 stick butter
  10. 4 Tbsps. cocoa
  11. 1/3 c. plus 1 tsp. milk
  12. 1 lb. powdered sugar
  13. 1 tsp. vanilla
  14. In sauce pan combine butter, cocoa, milk.
  15. Bring to boil, stirring constantly.
  16. Remove from heat and add remaining ingredients.
  17. Spread on cake after it cools.
