Iced Orange Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1/4 cup orange juice

Directions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugar.
  2. Add eggs, one a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Beat in orange juice and peel.
  4. Combine flour, baking powder and salt.
  5. Gradually add to the creamed mixture.
  6. Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls, 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees, for 10-12 minutes, or until edges begin to brown.
  8. Remove to wire racks to cool.
  9. In a small bowl, combine icing ingredients until smooth.
  10. Drizzle over cooled cookies.
