  1. In a large bowl, combine 1/2 cup flour, cornmeal, yeast, garlic salt, basil and oregano. In a saucepan, heat milk and butter to 120°-130°. Add to dry ingredients; beat just until moistened. Add egg; beat until smooth. Stir in cheese and enough remaining flour to form a soft dough (do not knead). Cover and let rest for 15 minutes.
  2. Divide dough into six pieces; roll each piece into a 7-in. rope. Place on a greased baking sheet. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
  3. Bake at 375° for 14-16 minutes or until golden brown. Brush with butter if desired. Yield: 6 breadsticks.
