Easy Parker House Dinner Rolls

Ingredients:

  • 1 (1/4 oz) package active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 (2 5/8 oz) package custard mix
  • 3 -3 1/2 cups pillsbury flour
  • 2 tbsp butter

Directions:

  1. Soften yeast in warm water.
  2. In large mixing bowl, combine the scalded milk, 1/4 cup butter and salt; stir until butter melts.
  3. Add custard mix; stir until dissolved.
  4. Cool to lukewarm!
  5. Add yeast.
  6. Gradually add flour to form a stiff dough.
  7. Cover, let rise in warmplace until light and doubled in size, 1-1 1/2 hours.
  8. Turn out on lightly floured surface; knead about 12-14 times.
  9. Roll out to 20x8” rectangle.
  10. Cut in half lengthwise, making 20X4” strips.
  11. Melt 2 tablespoons butter and brush on half of each strip.
  12. Using a knife handle,crease each strip lengthwise, slightly off center.
  13. Fold buttered side over unbuttered side.
  14. Cut into 3” rolls.
  15. Place in greased baking dish or cookie sheet.
  16. Cover; let rise in warm place until light, about 45-60 minutes.
  17. Before baking, lightly brush tops with milk.
  18. Bake at 400; for 10-15 minutes until light golden.
