Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup. butter
  • 2 cup. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup. chopped nuts
  • 1/2 cup. semi-sweet chocolate bits
  • 1 1/2 cup. sifted flour
  • 2 tsps. baking powder

Directions:

  1. Melt shortening (butter); remove from heat; add brown sugar, eggs, vanilla, nuts and chocolate bits.
  2. Add flour mixture and mix well. Bake 350 degrees for 30- 35 minutes in 9 x 9 inch pan.
  3. Cool before cutting.
