Ingredients:

  • 1 quart milk
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup grits (regular)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp pepepr

Directions:

  1. Bring milk to a boil
  2. Add 1/2 cup butter, gradually stir in grits
  3. Cook and stir until thick
  4. Remove from heat and add salt & pepper
  5. Beat with mixer at high speed until creamy
  6. Pour into ungreased casserole 13 x 9 x 2 and allow to set in refrigerator overnight
  7. When ready to bake, cut into squares and place like fallen dominoes in greased casserole
  8. Pour 1/3 cup melted buttter over squares and sprinkle with grated cheeses
  9. Bake at 400 degrees F for 35 minutes.
  10. Serves 6

  12. Don't substitute grits for oats in a recipe.....it just don't work like that
