Simple and Delicious Split Pea Soup

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Slice bacon into smaller pieces and fry on stove top.
  2. Drain bacon leaving 2 tbsp bacon fat in pan. Set bacon aside.
  3. Add onions and carrots to bacon fat and saute for 2 minutes.
  4. Add to soup pot with 8 cups water and 1 lb split peas.
  5. Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer for 35 minutes to 1 hour.
  6. Salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Puree half of soup and return to pot.
  8. Add 1/2 cup milk for a creamier soup.
  9. Add bacon and serve.
